Wellbeing Workshops FAQ

For BetterMynd Counselors

Q: What is a Wellbeing Workshop?

A: A wellbeing workshop is an educational, skill-based session offered to students via the BetterMynd platform. These are not therapy groups, but structured workshops focused on psychoeducation and student wellness.

Q: How long is a workshop and who can attend?

A: Workshops are 1 hour long and open to students from any of BetterMynd’s participating campuses. Each workshop can accommodate 12 to 25 students.

Q: What do I need to submit to offer a workshop?

A: Through your counselor dashboard, please submit:

  • Topic and description (include at least 2 learning outcomes)
  • Maximum number of attendees
  • Focus areas (student struggles or your specialties)
  • Preferred time slot
  • A presentation file outlining your planned content

⚠️ Once submitted, your request cannot be edited. If changes are needed, you'll need to resubmit.

Q: How far in advance do I need to submit a workshop?

A: Beginning Fall 2024, all workshops must be submitted by the 15th of the prior month.

Example: For a September workshop, submit by August 15th.

Q: Is approval guaranteed once I submit a workshop?

A: No. Workshops may be declined if:

  • Content does not meet criteria
  • Too many similar workshops are already scheduled
  • Topic is already covered
  • You’ve reached the monthly limit for submissions

Q: How do I launch a workshop?

A: Up to 15 minutes before the scheduled start time:

  1. Log in to your BetterMynd counselor account
  2. Navigate to the “Workshops” tab
  3. Click “Join Workshop” next to your session

Q: Do I need to approve student sign-ups?

A: No. Students enroll directly via their BetterMynd portal. You do not need to approve individual workshop requests.

Q: How do I view registered attendees?

A: To view attendees:

  1. Log in to your BetterMynd account
  2. Go to “Workshops”
  3. Click the workshop title
  4. Select “View Attendees”

Q: Can I lead a workshop outside my licensed state?

A: Yes. Since workshops are educational and not therapy, you may lead them for students in any state, regardless of licensure location.

Q: What is the pay rate for workshops?

A: Counselors are paid $135.00 for each completed workshop with at least one attendee.

Q: How many workshops can I lead per month?

A: You may host up to 3 workshops per month, based on availability and approval.

Q: What happens if no students register or attend?

A:

  • No registrants: Cancel the workshop at least 24 hours in advance. No compensation is provided.

No-shows (with registrants): You are eligible for a $50.00 no-show reimbursement if:

    • Students registered but didn’t attend
    • You waited at least 15 minutes

Q: What topics are appropriate for workshops?

A: Topics should reflect relevant and timely concerns for college students. Examples include:

  • Homesickness
  • Academic Distress
  • Test Anxiety
  • Home for the Holidays
  • Interpersonal Conflicts
  • Racialized Trauma
  • Mindful Eating
  • Self-Compassion

BetterMynd Admins may also suggest or request timely topics throughout the academic year.
